Massey University Palmerston North is implementing Sharepoint as a BI,Document Management and intranet platform.
It will possibly use it as a CMS in the future as well.

It would be interesting to get an idea of the possible size of the Sharepoint community in Palmerston North.

Why do the extra work for SharePoint when you can do it directly via your MS Office Application?
E.g. Directly save document to a SharePoint library instead of first saving locally and then uploading to a SharePoint Document Library.
OR
Setup your team meetings on SharePoint Team Calendar ...

Once you will try this you will know how easy it is -
On your SharePoint Site, Create a new Content Editor Webpart, and paste the source code of the Widget you want, to your webpart content editor.
Quick Steps on how to do this -
1. Page -> Edit -> Insert -> Web Parts -> Media and Cont...
